Do you insist on taking your own photographs?
No, if you have a cherished photo then we shall work with what you provide. However, there are instances when the pose or the lighting might be improved, and we are quite happy to take on this aspect – and it is a free service.
How long will it take to produce the painting?
After taking the photographs, and you have chosen the one that best illustrates the subject, it usually takes two-three weeks to deliver the finished work.
Pastels, watercolour or oils. What is the best medium for the portrait?
The choice is yours of course, though we would advise you whether to opt for a simple sketch or pastels, which give a soft, colourful presentation. Watercolours offer clarity and subtle colour variation; oils tend to be bolder, more dramatic.
Group portraits.  How much do they usually cost?
Each extra child or pet in a painting would normally incur a 15% addition to the price.
What do your clients normally request for inclusion in a portrait?
It varies according to personal choice. Some clients prefer a plain background, others favour a tinted board to highlight the subject. Occasionally, clients request a fully illustrated background of a rural scene. It`s advisable to clarify your needs in discussion with the artist.
Do you undertake other types of painting commission, such as houses and landscapes?
G`s Studio can undertake most commissions - be they portraits, interesting buildings, landscapes, seascapes, even industrial scenes. Our range is wide and varied.
What happens if I'm not happy with the portrait?
Our aim is customer satisfaction – it`s important, for much of our work comes by personal recommendation. As a consequence, we would endeavour to correct any aspect of a painting that is displeasing: failing that G`s Studio would not charge you.
